Crypto Halving Countdown
Every major cryptocurrency that halves its mining reward, counted down to the second. Block heights refresh live, so the dates move with the network.

Eight networks that cut their new-coin issuance on a fixed schedule. Dates are estimates from remaining blocks and each network’s target block time, or from the protocol’s own schedule where blocks don’t decide it.

What a halving actually does
Half the new supply, overnight
Miners earn freshly created coins for every block they add. A halving is a rule written into the code that cuts that reward in half at a set point. It runs automatically, with no company deciding when it happens.
For Bitcoin, that means the number of new coins entering the market each day drops from about 450 BTC to about 225 BTC. Demand does not change on the day, but new supply does. That is why halvings get so much attention.

Big coins that do not halve
Not every cryptocurrency has a halving. If you have heard of one for these coins, it is not real.
- Ethereum (ETH) has no fixed issuance schedule. New ETH goes to stakers, and part of every transaction fee is burned.
- Dogecoin (DOGE) pays a flat 10,000 DOGE per block, forever. Its supply has no cap.
- Monero (XMR) finished its main emission in 2022 and now pays a small permanent tail reward of 0.6 XMR per block.
- Solana (SOL) lowers its inflation rate gradually every year instead of halving.
Halving questions, answered
What is a crypto halving?
A halving is a rule built into a cryptocurrency's code that cuts the reward miners receive for each new block in half. It happens automatically at a set block number, so the amount of new coins entering circulation drops overnight.
When is the next Bitcoin halving?
The next Bitcoin halving is expected around 13 April 2028, at block 1,050,000. The block reward will fall from 3.125 BTC to 1.5625 BTC. The exact day depends on how fast blocks are mined between now and then.
Which cryptocurrency halves next?
Among classic halvings, Litecoin is next, expected around 28 July 2027 at block 3,360,000. Bitcoin Cash, Bitcoin and Bitcoin SV follow in April 2028. Kaspa is different: it reduces its reward a little every month.
How are these halving dates calculated?
Each date is the number of blocks left until the halving block, multiplied by the network's target block time, added to the time of the latest block. Block heights are pulled live from public blockchain explorers and refreshed every 90 seconds, so the dates update as the network runs faster or slower.
When is the next Bittensor (TAO) halving?
Bittensor's first halving happened on 14 December 2025, when 10.5 million TAO had been issued, cutting emissions to 0.5 TAO per block. The next one happens at 15.75 million TAO, which is about four years later at the earliest, around December 2029. Recycled TAO is subtracted from issuance, which can push the date later.
Do Ethereum or Dogecoin have a halving?
No. Ethereum has no fixed issuance schedule: new ETH goes to stakers and part of every transaction fee is burned. Dogecoin pays a flat 10,000 DOGE per block with no supply cap, so it never halves.
Does the price go up after a halving?
Bitcoin's price rose in the year or so after each of its past halvings, but many other factors drove those moves and past results do not guarantee future ones. A halving reduces new supply. It does not guarantee demand. This page is for education and is not financial advice.
